With the amount of people I've seen on this site not liking the name I cant bring myself to add it to my favorites list, but I definitely like it. Yes I got it from teen mom, and I think that might be part of the reason why I like it, I love the way they say it with their accents :)
What are your honest opinions on the name?|||I for one, really like it! The funny thing is, is I had this name (and some others) picked out for my "future children" when I was about 18. The REALLY funny part, is I had this down as a girl's name! Because I had only met one Bentley before in my life, and it was a little adorable girl!
So, naturally, I thought it was a girl's name, since that was the only association I had with the name.
Now, I still really like the name, but definitely for a boy. ;)
The "ley" ending doesn't sound so feminine when you think of other "ley" names like Wesley and Kingsley. Those are masculine boy names, so Bentley shouldn't be any different. Also, I like that you could use "Ben" as the nickname.
If there is one thing I have learned from Yahoo Answers, it's to not be embarrassed to like the names that I like. I know now, that I will NEVER please everyone and find a name that EVERYONE likes.....it's impossible! So, just let yourself like the name if you like it. There's no shame in that! Talking about this name is making me want to put it back on my list after about 7 years, only this time in the "boy" slot!
And for all those who constantly mention the upscale car........at least it's an "upscale" car! Not something like Chevy, Ford, or Isuzu!|||oh i LOVE it! :) and yes, i like it for the same reason!
BUT i also like it bc it has English history to it! which is what I am!
The name Bentley is an English name for a male. It was derived from a surname, which in turn was derived from the name of a place meaning 'a clearing covered with bent grass' in Old English. In the United Kingdom, there are several places which are named Bentley including:
Bentley is the name of a locality in Walsall that shares boundaries with places like Willenhall, Ashmore Park and Alumwell. Bentley played a notable role in the English Civil War when King Charles II sought asylum from the Lane family in Bentley Hall while trying to avoid exile.
Bentley is also famous in its neighbouring area for points of interest like Bentley Emmanuel Church and the ABC Park. In recent times, Bentley has seen an influx of visitors due to its proximity to the M6 Motorway, also a multiplex and many eating spots.|||People would probably think a lot higher of it if it wasn't on Teen Mom, but 2 years from now no one will remember the show, just the name.
I personally love the name, I think it's modern yet still sort of classy.
I don't mind of car reference, although Bentleys rank high on my "list of useless objects people blow money on that could be used to feed a small city in africa".
Oh and thank you for reminding me it's on right now. ;D|||I know a teenage boy named that, and even he doesn't like it and goes by his middle name Tyler. I'd like it more if it wasn't also a vehicle brand, like naming a girl Camry. At least give the kid a normal middle name so they can decide what they want to go by.|||I really don't like it! But I do love the Southern accent (:
I can't stop thinking of it as a nickname as opposed to an actual name. I mean, it's cute for a little boy, but who wants to be a "Bentley" past the age of, say, thirteen? I don't tend to be drawn towards boy names ending in "y" (maybe besides Riley, and even still I prefer it for a girl) because they seem more like nicknames to me than full names.|||I don't like it, for a couple of reasons:
1. Due to the super-expensive car make, it sounds ironically downmarket...it's like naming a kid Porsche or Armani.
2. It has an unattractive, unmanly sound..."bent" as in "get bent!" + the trendy-girl-name suffix "ley."
3. It's such a recent trend I have trouble picturing a Bentley as an attractive, capable, intelligent man...I can only see a little boy.|||Ahh, see I have no idea! I'm where you're at. I got it from Teen Mom. I love the way Maci says it! Her accent makes the name soo cute! But I love the name for a little kid. I think it's adorable for a child. But it's not masculine enough for me. I love the nickname Ben for it, though :) But I don't think I could ever use it, even though I love it%26lt;3
[:|||I love the name.
And I dont care if a model of car.
Its also a store name. a brand of notebook. an artchery school. etc.
So people that dont like it JUST because its a car. can shove it up there @$$. LOL
Its very cute. and it ages well. especially since you can shorten it to Ley(Lee). So if he gets older he can use that if he doesnt want to go by Bentley.
:)|||I like it %26amp; I am not a teen mom. LOL I am in my early 40's and have 4 boys.
But, I like more uncommon names and a lot of people on here don't like my taste in names. Some LOVE them though....it's typically never in the middle.
As long as you're not naming your kid Sofa or Stiletto....I wouldn't worry much about what others think of it.
I actually had Roman Bentley at one point, but liked Roman Bennett better...so put that one on the list......ended up needing a girl name this time anyway.
= )|||I hated the name until i saw teen mom and then i really started to like it ! lol
But i think its getting way too popular now to ever use it ):
Plus, i really dont like the nickname Ben and thats what he'd probably be called.
And yeeah i love their accents too (:|||I've seen this name EVERYWHERE lately, not on actual babies, but on people's lists.
It sounds a little cheap to me. I think it could possibly work as a middle name with a classy, masculine first name. Like, James Bentley.|||I love the name Bentley. It is my favorite boy name. I love how they say it with their accents as well. I think Bentley is a really cute name, and you could always call him Ben when he gets older. Bentley James or Bentley Michael would be nice. Hope this helps :)|||It's tacky and down-right ugly.
LOL sorry...honesty... :P but I do like Benjamin.|||Well you could always go Lamborghini or Ferrari but Aston Marton works also... I personally like Escalade but my son will be called Batman so its up to you.|||I think it's a bit tacky. It's definitely very trendy and I can forsee it getting uber popular among "young mothers"
The kid on Teen Moms is very cute though! I just don't like his name.|||I like it! I heard it on Teen Mom too lol. But I think it is very cute.
I think Bentley Andrew would be adorable.|||Thats my maiden last name!! As a first name it sounds expensive!!|||I think it's cute, but I could never use it (at least as a first name). It's on my 'guilty pleasure' name list for a boy.|||I love it.|||Honestly? I think it's a horrible, stupid, ugly name %26amp; shouldn't be used on a child unless he is a car.
